What a wonderful week reconnecting with old friends and colleagues at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) national convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 35,000 attended this conference and the energy in the convention hall was palpable.
Also, congratulations to Liz Holland, of Abbell Associates, on being named ICSC Chairman for 2016/2017! She’s only the fourth woman to hold this position. In her inaugural remarks, Ms. Holland spoke of being humbled at being named Chairman and how proud her grandfather- founder of Abbell Associates- would have been to see her in that role. She stressed the importance and urgency for Congress to pass the Marketplace Fairness Act which would level the playing field for community-based retailers competing against e-commerce merchants that do not currently collect sales tax on online purchases.
